It seems everyone is talking about it – H1N1. Daycares, schools and companies of all sizes have planned how they’ll keep a workforce together during a pandemic. Although reports of how severe it is vary widely, one thing is certain – the virus is widespread. Even obsessive use of hand sanitizer didn’t spare me from its reach.

It’s time for your quarterly earnings release. You have sweated through preparing your presentation, editing, reviewing, practicing … and practicing again. You finally feel comfortable with your message, but in all your preparation, have you sweated the right stuff?

Don’t Slam the Door on your International Meeting

Last summer, while teaching in South Africa, I learned a valuable lesson in cultural etiquette which translates even to the conferencing world. Using the taxis for transport was quite an experience – packed like a sardine in a speeding van which never stops, even for loading and unloading passengers. After getting out to let an older woman exit, I hopped back in and shut the door. Now, “shutting” the door, as I am used to, is perceived as an insuting door slam in African culture. Luckily, I played my ‘unknowing  American’ card with a smile and wasn’t kicked off by the glaring driver.

Are you finding it difficult to create the rapport virtually that you have when you make a face-to-face presentation?

Uncomfortable that you are missing your prospect’s nonverbal cues, so you can’t sense their reaction and adjust in real time?

With budgets tight there is high demand for virtual meetings – both audio and web. And while these tools allow professionals to connect instantly over long distances for a fraction of the cost of getting on a plane (not to mention the hassle,) one has to agree that the ability to read guests’ facial expressions and body language is missing.

When you are in the business of hosting millions of meetings each month, you know a thing or two about how people communicate. Unwanted noises can be a distraction during a meeting. As such, many conferencing users become frustrated with ‘the beep’. What is the beep and while we’re at it, what the beep!

The beep (or tone) is a simple way to announce when someone enters or exits a meeting. The beep is an important indicator when you are discussing sensitive topics. However, the beep can be distracting when you are hosting a large number of participants on a call.

Keep your eyes on the road with automatic passcode entry on a mobile device

Okay, I’ll admit it- I’ve taken my eyes off of the road more than once in order to enter in the passcode for the conference call I’m joining from my car.   I’ll even admit to looking up the passcode and repeating it 5 times in hopes of remembering it during those moments my eyes are off the road.  Isn’t there an easier way??

With PGiMeet conferencing, there is!  We all enjoy the ease of clicking a phone number to dial it from our mobile phones.  When you send a meeting invitation, you can format the number so that not only can you dial the number by clicking on it from your mobile device, but also the passcode will be entered automatically as well.
